BSNL Returns to Profit After Nearly Two Decades as Subscriber Growth Boosts

BSNL has reported its first quarterly profit since 2007, driven by strong customer additions, rapid network expansion, and improved revenue performance during the third quarter of the 2025 financial year.

State owned telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited BSNL has made a remarkable financial comeback by reporting its first profit since 2007. The achievement marks a significant milestone for the telecom operator after years of financial challenges.

Customer Growth Drives Profit

The company announced a net profit of Rs 262 crore during the third quarter of the 2025 financial year. According to BSNL, steady customer additions and an aggressive network expansion strategy played a major role in improving its financial performance.

Rising Interest in BSNL Services

Industry observers note that many users have been shifting to BSNL as telecom tariffs of private operators such as Jio and Airtel increased. The growing subscriber base has contributed to higher revenue and helped strengthen the company’s overall financial position.

Revenue Expected to Improve Further

BSNL said its revenue growth is expected to cross 20 percent by the end of the current financial year. With continued investment in network infrastructure and increasing customer confidence, the telecom provider aims to maintain its positive growth momentum in the coming months.
