Honor Magic 9 Pro Max Launches With Dual 200MP Cameras

HONOR has officially introduced the Magic 9 Pro Max in China, positioning it as a flagship smartphone focused heavily on photography and video creation. The new model combines a large display, high resolution cameras and a high capacity battery in a premium package.

One of the biggest talking points is the camera setup. The phone carries a 200MP main camera with a large 1/1.28 inch sensor, an f/1.57 aperture and optical image stabilisation. It also supports up to 3 degrees of gimbal level stabilisation, which is designed to help keep images and videos steadier when the phone is moving.

The second 200MP camera is a telephoto unit with a 1/1.4 inch sensor and f/2.6 aperture. It offers 3.5 times optical zoom and is accompanied by a 50MP ultra wide camera. HONOR has also included its Imaging Chip H1, while the company has worked with ARRI on aspects of the imaging and video workflow.

The front camera brings another unusual feature. The Magic 9 Pro Max uses a 55MP square format selfie sensor. Because of the square capture area, users can frame content in different formats without physically turning the phone. The system supports 1:1 capture along with flexible framing for vertical and horizontal content.

The display is a 6.8 inch LTPO OLED panel with a 1Hz to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. HONOR lists peak brightness of up to 10000 nits, while the screen also features 4320Hz PWM dimming. The phone uses an anti scratch NanoCrystal Shield and is designed to offer greater durability during everyday use.

Battery capacity is another major highlight. The Magic 9 Pro Max comes with an 8800mAh silicon carbon battery. It supports 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging. HONOR states that the battery has a rated capacity of 8600mAh, while 8800mAh is the typical capacity.

For performance, the smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 mobile platform. It is offered with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage, with MagicOS 11 based on Android 17 running the device.

Durability has also received considerable attention. The phone carries IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings for resistance against dust and water under specified testing conditions. HONOR also highlights the phone’s reinforced display protection as part of its durability design.

The Magic 9 Pro Max is currently available in China, while HONOR has indicated that the device will reach additional international markets later. The company has not announced every market’s pricing and availability yet.
