Xiaomi 18 could bring a major battery upgrade

Xiaomi appears to be preparing its next flagship smartphone lineup, with fresh leaks offering an early look at what could be coming with the Xiaomi 18 series. The standard Xiaomi 18 is tipped to receive a larger battery, an upgraded camera system and a high resolution display.

One of the more notable details is the reported 7200mAh battery. If the information turns out to be accurate, the upcoming model would get a modest capacity increase over the Xiaomi 17, which features a 7000mAh battery.

The larger battery could become one of the main selling points of the Xiaomi 18, especially for users who prefer longer usage between charges. However, Xiaomi has not officially confirmed the battery capacity at this stage.

Five colour choices could be offered

Colour options may also give the Xiaomi 18 a wider visual appeal. Tipster Digital Chat Station has reportedly suggested that the phone could be offered in White, Pink, Blue, Red and Black finishes.

The Xiaomi 17 was offered in four colours in China, namely White, Blue, Pink and Black. In India, the previous model was available in Ice Blue, Venture Green and Black.

The addition of Red to the possible Xiaomi 18 lineup would give buyers another option, although the final names and availability of these colours could differ between markets.

200MP camera could headline the rear setup

Camera hardware is another area where Xiaomi may make a significant change. A reported engineering prototype of the Xiaomi 18 is said to feature a 200MP primary camera on the rear.

The phone could retain a square shaped camera module similar to the design seen on the Xiaomi 17. The higher resolution main sensor could give Xiaomi a stronger camera focused proposition, although details about the remaining sensors have not been confirmed.

The Pro models are also expected to receive camera upgrades. Earlier reports have suggested that the Xiaomi 18 Pro could feature two 200MP rear cameras, putting greater emphasis on photography and zoom capabilities.

Compact 2K display tipped

The standard Xiaomi 18 could feature a 6.4 inch display with 2K resolution. The panel is also expected to have rounded corners and narrow bezels, giving the phone a more modern flagship appearance.

The display would continue Xiaomi’s push toward sharper and more immersive screens in its premium smartphone range. More information about the panel technology and refresh rate is expected to emerge closer to the launch.

Xiaomi 18 Pro could bring bigger upgrades

The Xiaomi 18 Pro is also generating interest through several reported specifications. The Pro model is tipped to feature a 7000mAh battery with support for 100W wired fast charging and wireless charging.

Reports have also pointed toward an upgraded dual speaker system and a 2K display with slim bezels. The phone could use a future Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 series chipset, although this detail remains part of the current leak cycle.

Another reported addition is a privacy focused display feature similar to the technology seen on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. If introduced, the feature could offer users additional privacy when viewing the screen in public places.

The Pro model may also continue the design direction seen on the previous generation while using a flat display and thinner bezels.

What the Xiaomi 17 Pro already offered

The previous Xiaomi 17 Pro, launched in China in September, featured a 6.3 inch display with a peak brightness of 3500 nits. It also stood out because of its M10 secondary display positioned on the rear panel.

The Xiaomi 17 Pro was powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. Its rear secondary screen was one of the most distinctive elements of the phone and helped separate the Pro model from conventional flagship designs.

The Xiaomi 18 series is expected to build on this foundation with improvements across battery capacity, cameras and performance. For now, the reported specifications should be treated as leaks because Xiaomi has not officially announced the complete hardware details.

The company is expected to reveal more information as the launch approaches, including the final specifications, pricing, availability and regional colour options.
