Tesla Model Y Gets Powerful AI Upgrade in India With New Grok Assistant Features

Tesla has rolled out a new software update for Model Y owners in India, bringing a range of artificial intelligence powered features to enhance the driving experience. The latest update introduces Grok AI Assistant along with several smart functions that are designed to make daily journeys more convenient and interactive.

The new AI features are being delivered through an over the air software update, meaning existing customers do not need to pay any additional charges to access them. Tesla aims to improve the way drivers interact with their vehicles by allowing them to complete multiple tasks through simple voice commands.

Activating Grok AI Assistant is designed to be straightforward. Drivers can press the voice button located on the steering wheel or simply say a wake command to start using the assistant. Once activated, users can ask the system to perform different tasks, including setting travel routes, finding nearby Supercharger stations, locating restaurants, coffee shops, hospitals, ATMs, and other important places.

One of the notable highlights of this update is support for multiple Indian languages. Grok AI can communicate with users in languages such as Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Marathi, and Gujarati. This feature could make Tesla vehicles easier to use for customers who prefer interacting in their regional language rather than English.

The updated navigation system also brings smarter travel assistance. The vehicle can learn regular travel patterns and frequently visited locations to provide more personalized destination suggestions. Tesla has expanded navigation capabilities beyond common locations like home and office, allowing users to plan more flexible trips with multiple stops through voice commands.

The AI assistant can also help explain information displayed on the vehicle screen. Warnings, notifications, and different messages shown by the car can be interpreted through Grok AI, making it easier for new Tesla owners to understand various vehicle functions and alerts.

Along with the software update, Tesla has started offering test drives for the Model Y Premium Rear Wheel Drive variant at its dealerships in India. This gives potential buyers an opportunity to experience the new AI features and understand the vehicle’s technology before making a purchase decision.

Tesla currently offers the Model Y in India in two variants. The Premium Rear Wheel Drive five seat version is priced at around Rs 50.89 lakh, while the Premium All Wheel Drive seven seat model costs approximately Rs 61.99 lakh. The electric SUV competes with models such as Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and BYD Sealion 7 in the premium electric vehicle segment.

With the addition of AI based features, improved voice assistance, and smarter navigation capabilities, the Tesla Model Y is becoming more technology focused for Indian customers.
