The electric SUV retains its existing battery choices.

Mahindra has expanded the XEV 9S electric SUV range in India with the introduction of a new six seater version. The biggest change is inside the cabin, where the conventional second row has been replaced with two individual seats aimed at offering passengers a more premium experience.

The new variant is priced between Rs 25.25 lakh and Rs 30.15 lakh, ex showroom, according to reports. Buyers can choose from the available battery options, while the major technology and equipment package remains largely unchanged.

The second row is the main highlight of the new version. Passengers get ventilated seats along with sliding and reclining adjustments. A Boss Mode function is also available, while separate sunshades add to the comfort for rear occupants. Wireless phone charging is another convenience feature offered in the cabin.

Mahindra has also packed the XEV 9S with a premium entertainment setup. The SUV gets a 16 speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos support. Three 31.24 cm screens are positioned across the dashboard and cabin, while 5G connectivity is also available.

Battery choices remain a key part of the XEV 9S lineup. The 59 kWh battery can produce up to 170 kW of peak power, while the 70 kWh and 79 kWh packs offer peak outputs of 180 kW and 210 kW respectively.

The SUV continues with its modern exterior design, featuring L shaped LED daytime running lights, vertically positioned projector headlamps and Mahindra Electric branding. Space is another strong point, with 527 litres of boot capacity and generous room across the first and second rows.

The XEV 9S has also been performing strongly in the electric passenger vehicle market. Mahindra has positioned it as a premium electric SUV built on the INGLO platform, with the company highlighting its spacious cabin and three row practicality in the broader XEV 9S range.

With the new six seater layout, Mahindra is clearly targeting buyers who want more comfort for rear passengers without giving up the technology and electric performance already offered by the XEV 9S.
