Huawei has expanded its smartphone lineup in China with the new Pura X View, a device that stands out for its unusually wide display and large 7000mAh battery. The company has also focused on the viewing experience, with the screen reaching an impressive peak brightness of 6500 nits.
The phone is set to go on sale in China from August 28, while pre orders have already started. Huawei is offering the device in white, red, grey and black colour options.
The display measures 6.39 inches and has a resolution of 1320 by 2232 pixels. It also supports 2160Hz PWM dimming and a peak brightness of 6500 nits. Huawei says the wider screen is designed to make activities such as watching videos, reading and gaming more comfortable.
The screen is surrounded by slim 1.05mm bezels on all four sides, giving the phone a distinctive appearance. Despite the large display, the handset measures only 6.68mm in thickness and weighs around 201 grams.
Camera capabilities are another major part of the Pura X View package. The smartphone comes with a triple rear camera system featuring a 50 megapixel main sensor and a periscope telephoto camera. The setup is aimed at giving users more flexibility when shooting distant subjects.
Under the hood, the device runs HarmonyOS 7.0. Storage choices are generous, with buyers able to choose between 256GB, 512GB and 1TB configurations. All three versions come with 12GB of RAM.
The 7000mAh battery is likely to be one of the biggest selling points of the phone. It gives the Pura X View a substantial power reserve while keeping the device relatively slim for its battery capacity.
Huawei has also been working on expanding its Nova lineup. The company recently introduced the Nova 16 series, which includes several models. Reports have suggested that a Nova 16 SE could join the range with a 1.5K OLED display, a Kirin 8020 chipset and an even larger 8500mAh battery. Huawei has not officially confirmed those details yet.
