Apple introduces a flexible leasing option in the US, allowing customers to use premium devices with monthly payments.

Apple has launched a new device leasing program in the US that lets customers use iPhones iPads and Macs with flexible options to buy return or upgrade after the lease period ends.
Apple is changing the way customers access its premium devices with a new leasing program launched in the United States. Instead of paying the full price upfront, users can now get selected Apple products on lease and decide what to do with them after the agreement period is completed.
The new program covers popular devices including iPhones, iPads, Macs and Apple Watch models. Customers will have the flexibility to continue using their current device, return it, or switch to a newer model through an upgrade option. At present, the service is limited to the US market, and Apple has not shared any details about a possible launch in India.
The company has introduced this initiative in partnership with Klarna, a financial technology company known for buy now pay later services. Customers interested in the lease option will go through a soft credit check before approval. The facility will be available through Apple’s online store as well as physical Apple retail stores.
Under the new plan, iPhone and Apple Watch users can choose lease periods of 12 or 24 months. For Mac and iPad products, customers will get longer options ranging from 24 to 36 months. The starting price for leasing an iPhone under this program is expected to be around 17.99 dollars per month, making premium Apple devices more accessible for users who do not want to make a large one time payment.
Once the lease period ends, customers will have three different choices. They can pay the remaining amount and permanently keep the device, return it and end the agreement, or exchange the current device for a newer model by starting a fresh lease plan.
Apple has clarified that customers who choose to purchase the device after the lease period will only need to pay the remaining balance. According to reports, the total amount paid through the program will not exceed the original price of the device.
The lease program includes several high end products such as the iPhone 17 series, iPhone Air, Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac Studio, iPad Air, iPad Pro and iPad Mini. However, more affordable products including the iPhone 16, standard iPad, MacBook Neo and Apple Watch SE are not part of this plan.
This new leasing option replaces Apple’s earlier iPhone upgrade program and expands the availability of flexible payment choices across a wider range of products. The move comes ahead of the expected September iPhone launch event, where Apple is likely to introduce its next generation smartphones.
With rising smartphone prices making upgrades more expensive, Apple’s leasing strategy could help more customers access newer devices without paying the full cost immediately. The company is now testing whether a subscription style approach can become a popular alternative to traditional device ownership.
