China Unveils Advanced Robot Dog Built for Tough Terrain
A newly developed robot dog from China is attracting global attention with its ability to carry luggage navigate difficult landscapes follow people intelligently and assist in rescue security and industrial operations.

A cutting edge robot dog developed by Chinese robotics company Unitree Robotics is making headlines for its impressive mobility and practical applications. Designed to support trekkers and travellers, the machine can easily move across rocky mountain trails, muddy paths and other challenging landscapes where ordinary equipment often struggles.
The robot, known as the Unitree AS2, has gone viral after industrialist Harsh Goenka shared a demonstration video on social media. The footage quickly attracted widespread attention, with many viewers impressed by the robot’s balance, agility and intelligent movement.
One of the robot’s standout features is its Intelligent Follow System, which enables it to accurately track and follow its owner while carrying luggage weighing around 15 to 16 kilograms. This makes it especially useful for hiking, trekking and outdoor expeditions where carrying heavy gear can be difficult.
The Unitree AS2 is engineered to climb slopes as steep as 40 degrees and cross obstacles up to 50 centimetres high. These capabilities allow it to travel through rough environments that would challenge many conventional robotic systems.
The company has also introduced another version called the AS2 W, which comes equipped with wheels for smoother movement across suitable surfaces. Both models are designed to handle demanding outdoor conditions.
Built with an IP54 protection rating, the robot is resistant to dust and water, making it reliable for use in different weather conditions and rugged environments.
Beyond outdoor adventures, Unitree Robotics says the robot dog has significant potential in rescue missions, industrial inspections and security operations. Its combination of mobility, durability and intelligent navigation could make it a valuable tool across several professional sectors.
