Bengaluru Roads Turn Into Rivers as Heavy Rain Disrupts Traffic and Flight Operations
A spell of heavy rain across Bengaluru led to flooded roads, major traffic congestion, and temporary flight disruptions as stormy weather affected normal city life.

A powerful evening shower brought large parts of Bengaluru to a standstill as heavy rain and thunderstorms lashed the city, creating challenging conditions for both road users and air travelers.
Several busy stretches across the city witnessed water accumulation, leading to slow moving traffic and delays during peak commuting hours. Office goers heading home were caught off guard by the sudden change in weather and rushed to find temporary shelter.
Localities including Basaveshwar Nagar, Malleshwaram, Basavanagudi, RR Nagar, Shantinagar, BTM Layout, Adugodi, Madiwala, Kengeri, Nayandahalli, and Vasanth Nagar recorded significant rainfall during the evening.
The impact was particularly visible in technology and commercial corridors where rainwater flooded roads. Motorists struggled to navigate through submerged stretches near Marathahalli and Bagmane Tech Park, while congestion intensified on connecting routes.
The adverse weather conditions extended beyond city roads. Near Kempegowda International Airport, heavy rain and thundercloud activity affected flight operations. An IndiGo aircraft arriving from New Delhi was unable to make an immediate landing and was required to circle in the air until conditions improved.
The rainfall also created difficulties for passengers traveling to and from the airport, adding to the overall disruption caused by the weather. Civic authorities and traffic officials remained on alert as more rain is expected over the coming days.
