The collapse became even more severe as Bangladesh slipped to 39 for nine. Their final pair, Taijul Islam and Shoriful Islam, then added 25 valuable runs to take the total to 64. Shoriful finished as Bangladesh’s top scorer with 14, while Taijul remained unbeaten on 11.

The Bangladesh batting performance was a sharp contrast to their showing in the first Test, where they stunned Australia with a historic victory. Their hopes of taking control of the series now face a major challenge after the dramatic collapse in Mackay.

With Bangladesh dismissed for only 64, Australia gained complete control of the second Test from the very first session. Starc’s six wicket burst gave the hosts the perfect start as they looked to level the series.
