SRH and PBKS Set for Crucial Uppal Clash in IPL Playoff Race
Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings face a high pressure IPL contest in Uppal tonight with the winning side expected to strengthen its chances of sealing a playoff spot.

The race for the IPL 2026 playoffs is getting tighter with every match and tonight’s clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings has become one of the most important fixtures of the season. Both teams are firmly in contention for a top four finish, making the Uppal encounter a virtual knockout battle.
The match will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad and is scheduled to begin at 7:30 pm. Fans can watch the live broadcast on Star Sports and stream the game on Jio Hotstar.
Punjab Kings enter the contest with strong momentum after winning six of their nine matches this season. The side currently sits at the top of the points table with 13 points. Sunrisers Hyderabad are not far behind, holding third place with 12 points from six victories in ten games. A win for either team would push them closer to securing a playoff berth.
Punjab Kings already defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad earlier this season in Mullanpur. In that game, Punjab comfortably chased down a massive target and registered a convincing victory. However, Hyderabad will draw confidence from their outstanding home record against Punjab.
Historically, Sunrisers Hyderabad have dominated the rivalry. Out of 25 IPL meetings between the two teams, Hyderabad have won 17 matches while Punjab Kings have managed eight victories. The numbers become even more one sided in Uppal, where Sunrisers have won nine out of ten matches against Punjab.
With several teams from Punjab to Delhi still fighting for playoff qualification, every remaining league game carries huge importance. The pressure will be high on both captains as a victory here could almost guarantee a place in the final four.
Sunrisers Hyderabad are expected to field a strong lineup featuring Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan, Heinrich Klaasen, Salil Arora, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Aniket Verma, captain Pat Cummins, Harsh Dubey, Shakib Hussain, Harshal Patel and Ishan Malinga.
Punjab Kings are likely to go ahead with Prabhsimran Singh, Priyansh Arya, Cooper Connolly, captain Shreyas Iyer, Marcus Stoinis, Suryanshu Shedge, Nehal Wadhera, Marco Jansen, Xavier Bartlett, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal and Vijay Kumar Vyshak.
As the playoff race reaches a decisive stage, cricket fans can expect an intense battle under the lights in Hyderabad with both teams aiming to take a major step toward the IPL 2026 playoffs.
