India vs West Indies ODI: India Thrash West Indies as Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill Hit Centuries

India vs West Indies ODI: India began the three match ODI series against West Indies with a comfortable eight wicket win, chasing down a target of 296 with plenty of time to spare. The visitors reached 300 for 2 in just 41.4 overs, with Virat Kohli and captain Shubman Gill doing most of the damage with the bat.

Kohli remained unbeaten on 139 from 88 deliveries, producing a spectacular innings that included 10 fours and nine sixes. Gill was equally impressive at the other end, scoring 110 from 108 balls with 10 fours and a six. Their centuries turned what could have been a competitive chase into a straightforward victory.

West Indies had earlier posted 295 for seven after being sent in to bat. Justin Greaves provided the foundation with a century, making 101, while John Campbell scored 62 and Amir Jangoo finished unbeaten on 58.

India’s bowlers had to work hard during the opening stages as the West Indies openers settled in quickly. Campbell and Greaves put together a century opening stand and kept the Indian attack waiting for its first breakthrough.

Kuldeep Yadav eventually changed the momentum of the innings. The left arm spinner finished with four wickets for 40 runs and was particularly effective in the middle overs. Prasidh Krishna claimed two wickets, while Nitish Kumar Reddy took one.

Campbell was the first batter to fall, caught by Prasidh Krishna off Kuldeep’s bowling for 62. Keesy Carty followed after making 13, before Kuldeep produced another important spell to remove Shai Hope and then Greaves.

Greaves reached his hundred but could not carry his side through the final overs. Kuldeep dismissed him after India successfully reviewed an initial not out decision. Jewell Andrew was then caught by Rohit Sharma, giving India two quick breakthroughs.

West Indies recovered briefly through Roston Chase and Jangoo. The pair added a useful partnership, but Prasidh Krishna ended Chase’s innings for 24 with a well directed delivery. Jangoo’s unbeaten 58 helped West Indies reach 295, leaving India with a challenging but manageable target.

India’s chase did not begin with the same authority. Rohit Sharma scored 32 before attempting a big shot against Alzarri Joseph and was caught near the boundary. He had shared a 74 run opening stand with Gill.

Gill then took control of the innings. He found the boundary regularly and completed his half century before building a substantial partnership with Kohli. The pair gradually took the game away from West Indies, adding 149 runs for the second wicket.

Gill brought up his 10th ODI century from 97 balls. He eventually departed for 110, with Roston Chase ending his innings and breaking the partnership.

That dismissal brought Ruturaj Gaikwad to the crease, but there was little pressure on him. Kohli was already well set and continued attacking the West Indies bowling.

Kohli reached his century from just 74 balls and continued accelerating after reaching the landmark. He struck several boundaries and sixes as India moved rapidly towards the target.

The victory also marked another significant milestone for Kohli. During his innings, he crossed 15,000 ODI runs, becoming only the second batter after Sachin Tendulkar to reach the mark in the format.

With Kohli unbeaten on 139 and Gaikwad on 13 not out, India completed the chase in 41.4 overs. The result gave India a 1 0 lead in the three match series, while Kuldeep Yadav was named Player of the Match for his four wicket performance.
