India Shooting Gold: India Shooters Deliver Gold and Silver at Asian Games With Record Performance
Indian shooters added a gold and silver medal at the Asian Games, with Suruchi Singh and Kamaljeet setting a new Asian record in the mixed team final.
India Shooting Gold: India’s shooting campaign at the 2026 Asian Games gained fresh momentum on Friday as Suruchi Singh and Kamaljeet combined for gold in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. The Indian pair finished the final with 484.6 points, setting a new Asian record in the process.
The contest remained competitive, particularly against South Korea, but the Indian duo managed to stay ahead when it mattered most. Korea finished with 478 points for silver, while Iran took bronze with 415.8 points.
The result also gave India its second gold medal of the Games. The 484.6-point score put Suruchi and Kamaljeet at the top of the final standings, while their performance came close to the world record mark.
Silver in 50m rifle 3 positions
India added another medal in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions team event. Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Niraj Kumar and Rudrankksh Patil combined for 1762 points to finish second.
China topped the event with 1766 points, four points ahead of India, while South Korea secured the bronze medal with 1751 points.
In the qualification round, Tomar scored 589, Niraj Kumar recorded 588 and Rudrankksh Patil finished with 585. Their combined 1762 points were enough to put India on the podium.
Rudrankksh, however, missed out on an individual final spot because of the competition rules limiting each country to two shooters in the individual final. As a result, Tomar and Niraj will represent India in the individual medal round.
The two results underline another productive day for India’s shooting contingent, with the mixed team gold adding a record to the medal haul and the rifle team securing silver.
