Telangana SIR Deadline Extended to October 7 for Voter Claims

The Election Commission has extended the deadline for the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Telangana. Voters who still need to register, correct their details or raise an objection can now complete the process until October 7.
The earlier deadline was September 16. The extension gives both voters and officials some additional breathing room to complete the revision exercise.
The Telangana government had sought more time for the process. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, along with State Chief Electoral Officer Sudarshan Reddy, approached the Election Commission with a request to extend the deadline.
The aim is to ensure that eligible citizens get a proper opportunity to be included in the electoral roll. The additional time could also help people who have not yet checked their voter details or were unable to submit their claims before the original deadline.
The SIR exercise allows eligible citizens to seek inclusion in the voter list. Those already registered can also approach the authorities if they find errors or need changes in their electoral information.
Claims and objections submitted during the extended period will not be accepted as final entries without verification. Election officials will examine the information provided and check the relevant documents before deciding on the applications.
