Sabarimala Temple Doors to Open Tomorrow Evening for Monthly Pujas

The doors of the famous Sabarimala Ayyappa temple in Kerala will open tomorrow at 5 pm for the Malayalam New Year and Chingam month pujas.

The sanctum sanctorum will be opened by chief priest Melshanthi Prasad Eedi in the presence of chief Tantri Kandararu Brahmadattan. Special puja rituals will begin after the temple doors are opened.

Devotees will be allowed to have darshan from 5 am on August 17, which marks the beginning of the Malayalam New Year. The temple will remain open for the special rituals until 10 pm on August 21.

The Travancore Devaswom Board has announced that the shrine will reopen on August 24 for the Onam festival celebrations.

Arrangements have also been made to manage the expected flow of pilgrims. The Travancore Devaswom Board and Kerala State Road Transport Corporation have taken steps to make the journey easier for devotees.

KSRTC will operate shuttle bus services around the clock from Nilakkal to the Pamba base camp. The service is intended to help pilgrims reach the base camp conveniently during the temple opening period.

Officials have advised devotees to book their virtual queue slots in advance through the Sabarimala online portal. The booking system is being used to regulate the number of pilgrims and ensure smoother darshan arrangements.

The reopening is expected to bring a fresh flow of devotees to the hill shrine as pilgrims arrive to mark the Malayalam New Year and participate in the monthly rituals.
