Taking to X on Tuesday, Prakash Raj described the development as a joke and questioned how his name could disappear from the constituency where he was born and raised. He also said he would take steps to get his voting right restored.
Prakash Raj pointed out that Bengaluru has been closely involved in the current voter list revision. He said his schooling, college education and theatre work were all connected to the city. He had also contested an election from the constituency in the past.
His post came amid the wider SIR exercise in Karnataka, where electoral rolls are being reviewed and voters whose details fall under categories such as absent, shifted, duplicate or deceased are being identified.
The actor questioned what documents he would now have to provide to get his name back on the voter list. He also used the issue to make a broader political point, asking whether those in power could prevent voters from eventually using their collective strength at the ballot box.
Prakash Raj’s comments have drawn attention as the SIR process continues across Karnataka. His claim concerns his own electoral entry, while the reasons for the deletion would need to be established through the official electoral roll process.
