Eluru Train Tragedy: Four Family Members Killed After Being Hit by Train Near Eluru Railway Station

Eluru Train Tragedy: A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded near Chebrolu Railway Station in Andhra Pradesh’s Eluru district on Saturday night when four members of the same family lost their lives after being struck by a train while crossing the railway tracks.

According to railway officials, the accident occurred around 9 pm near the station platform. A special train heading toward Visakhapatnam hit the family with great force, killing all four victims on the spot.

The deceased were identified as Sheikh Chand Basha, 50, his wife Sheikh Haseena, 45, and their daughters Sheikh Sharmila, 23, and Sheikh Sameera, 20. Sharmila was pursuing an MBA, while Chand Basha and Haseena earned their livelihood by running an optical store in Tadepalligudem.

Although the family originally belonged to Gudivada, they had been living in Tadepalligudem for nearly 25 years. For the past three years, they had been residing in a rented house in the Mamidithota area. Local residents said the family had been facing financial difficulties in recent months.

Neighbors recalled seeing the family leave home together on two motorcycles earlier that evening. Investigators are yet to determine whether the incident was purely accidental or if any other circumstances contributed to the tragedy.

Government Railway Police officers reached the accident site soon after receiving information and began collecting evidence. The bodies were examined before being shifted for further formalities, and a case has been registered. Railway police said the investigation is continuing from all possible angles to establish the exact sequence of events.
