An Anantapur farmer was attacked by a bear while heading to his field early Wednesday, suffering serious injuries that required more than 40 stitches at a hospital.

Bear Attacks Anantapur Farmer: A farmer in Anantapur district was seriously injured after a bear suddenly attacked him while he was on his way to his field early Wednesday morning.

The incident took place in Tenagallu village of Kundurpi mandal. According to local reports, farmer Venkatesulu had gone to his agricultural field to supply water when the animal appeared unexpectedly and attacked him.

Caught off guard, Venkatesulu reportedly struggled to escape from the bear. Although he eventually managed to get away and return to the village, he had sustained significant injuries during the attack.

Family members and local residents rushed him for medical treatment. He was initially taken from Kalyandurg and later shifted to a hospital in Anantapur for further care. Doctors treated injuries to his head and shoulders and reportedly placed more than 40 stitches.

The incident has caused concern among farmers and residents in nearby villages, particularly over the continued movement of bears in the area. Locals have urged forest officials to take immediate steps to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of people living near agricultural fields.

Forest department officials are expected to assess the situation and take appropriate measures to address the bear movement in the affected areas.
