Director PS Mithran says Yash once passed on his dream adventure project because of scheduling issues, while Toxic now faces questions over its reported OTT deal in the latest update.
Yash Toxic Update: Yash could have been part of an ambitious adventure film inspired by the world of Indiana Jones, but the project never moved beyond the narration stage, according to director PS Mithran.
Mithran, who is gearing up for the release of Sardar 2 on September 10, spoke about the shelved project during a recent interview. He said the story had strong emotions and was something he considered a dream project.
The director had apparently imagined Yash in the lead and had narrated the idea to him. However, the actor was busy with other commitments at the time and could not take up the film. As a result, the project remained only a concept despite Mithran’s belief that it could have become something special.
Mithran also suggested that he would have preferred Yash to choose a story with stronger emotional depth rather than a gangster action drama built around adult content and comparatively less emotional material.
The discussion comes at a time when Yash’s recent film Toxic has been facing mixed reactions. The movie arrived with considerable expectations, but its response reportedly did not match what the makers had hoped for.
Attention has now shifted towards the film’s reported OTT deal. According to industry reports, a streaming company that had earlier considered paying around Rs 150 crore for the rights is now said to be offering only about Rs 30 crore.
The reported change has sparked interest because the makers were previously believed to have turned down the Rs 150 crore proposal while seeking a deal closer to Rs 200 crore, expecting the film to perform strongly at the box office.
There has been no official confirmation yet regarding either the earlier offer or the latest reported figure. The final OTT arrangement, if any, will depend on negotiations between the production team and the streaming platform.
Meanwhile, Mithran is focused on Sardar 2, which is scheduled to release on September 10. His comments about the Yash project have once again brought attention to a film that could have marked a very different chapter in the actor’s career.
