Vennela Kishore Recalls Dookudu Story: Vennela Kishore Recalls Strange Advice Before Dookudu

Vennela Kishore has recalled how director Srinu Vaitla once suggested liposuction before Dookudu, saying the comedian needed to look slimmer while sharing screen space with Mahesh Babu.

Vennela Kishore Recalls Dookudu Story: Vennela Kishore has once again become the subject of discussion after an old interview resurfaced in which he spoke about an unusual suggestion he received before working on Dookudu.

The actor and comedian recalled that director Srinu Vaitla had asked him to consider liposuction because he felt Kishore needed to appear slimmer while acting alongside Mahesh Babu. According to Kishore, the director even offered to pay for the procedure.

Kishore said he did not go ahead with the suggestion. He told Vaitla that he would try to lose weight naturally instead. That did not happen as quickly as he had expected, but things eventually worked out in his favour.

After the first schedule was completed, Vaitla reportedly told him that his appearance was fine as it was. Kishore continued with the film, and his scenes with Mahesh Babu went on to become one of the memorable parts of Dookudu.

The film became an important turning point in Kishore’s career. His comic timing and the chemistry he shared with Mahesh helped him gain even wider recognition among Telugu audiences.

The two actors later appeared together in several other films, including Aagadu, Brahmotsavam, Sarkaru Vaari Paata and Guntur Kaaram. Their combination has remained popular, particularly when Kishore is given a strong supporting role.

Kishore’s journey into films was not a conventional one. He had started his professional career as a software engineer in the United States before choosing acting as a career. After making his mark with Vennela, he gradually built a place for himself in Telugu cinema.

Over the years, he has moved beyond being known only as a comedian and has taken up supporting roles as well. His work in films such as Balwanth, Raakasa, Jetty and Purusha has reflected that change.

Kishore has also spoken about working with today’s biggest Telugu stars. He feels the image and scale of actors such as Prabhas and NTR have changed considerably over the years. With their films becoming much larger in scale, he believes writing a meaningful role for a comedian in such projects is not always easy.

He jokingly observed that, in some of those big star films, there may be little for him to do beyond simply standing around and watching the hero. His comments have once again drawn attention to the changing nature of roles in big budget Telugu cinema.
