Andhra Pradesh Eyes Major Investments With Proposed Visakhapatnam Data Center Project

Andhra Pradesh has received fresh investment proposals worth Rs 71,602.60 crore, with a large scale data center project in Visakhapatnam emerging as the biggest proposal under consideration. The planned investments are expected to create employment opportunities for more than 14,000 people across the state.

The State Investment Promotion Committee reviewed the proposals during a meeting and examined projects spanning data infrastructure, renewable energy, electronics manufacturing and industrial development. Recommendations will now be placed before the State Investment Promotion Board for final approval.

Among the proposed projects, a data center in Visakhapatnam has attracted the highest investment commitment of Rs 58,743 crore. The project is planned in five phases over the next decade and is expected to provide employment to around 1,250 people once operational.

Several other investment proposals were also presented. Agastya Green Energy Limited proposed a major solar manufacturing facility at Guttapadu Industrial Park in Kurnool district with an investment of nearly Rs 7,800 crore. The project includes integrated solar ingot and wafer manufacturing units and is expected to generate around 1,000 jobs.

Coromandel International Limited has expressed interest in setting up phosphoric acid and associated plants at Mulapeta in Srikakulam district with an investment of Rs 2,125 crore. Additional proposals include a mining infrastructure project in Nellore district, an electronics manufacturing unit in Kadapa and an agro industrial project expected to create more than 1,100 jobs.

The committee also reviewed requests related to earlier project approvals, including modifications, extensions and investment incentives. Once the proposals receive final clearance, the state government is expected to begin the next phase of project implementation.
