Flores Earthquake: A powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia’s Flores region early Saturday, causing panic among residents and damaging homes and buildings in several areas. The strong tremor was felt across parts of East Nusa Tenggara, with many people rushing out of their houses for safety.

The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of around 10 kilometres, with the epicentre located about 68 kilometres northwest of Ende in East Nusa Tenggara. Because the quake happened close to the coast, authorities initially issued a tsunami warning and asked people in coastal areas to move towards safer and higher ground.

The sudden shaking created fear in several communities. Reports said buildings and houses were damaged, while some structures collapsed. Emergency teams were sent to affected locations as authorities started assessing the situation and checking whether people were trapped or injured.
