Telangana’s Singareni Rescue Squad Earns Global Honour at Mining Event
The Singareni rescue squad from Telangana secured top honours at an international mining rescue competition in Zambia with its outstanding underground emergency response performance.

The Singareni Collieries rescue squad has added a major international achievement to its name after winning first place in a prestigious underground mine rescue competition organised in Zambia.
The competition brought together rescue teams from several countries known for large scale mining operations. Despite tough competition from experienced international teams, the Singareni squad impressed judges with its advanced rescue methods, coordination and quick emergency response techniques.
Participants were evaluated through realistic underground disaster simulations designed to test technical expertise, teamwork and crisis management skills. The Telangana based team reportedly excelled in handling complex rescue situations within limited time, drawing praise from global mining safety experts.
Officials said the rescue personnel demonstrated exceptional discipline and confidence while using specialised equipment during emergency drills. Their ability to react swiftly in dangerous underground conditions played a major role in securing the top award.
The recognition is being seen as a reflection of the strong training standards followed by Singareni rescue stations. Rescue workers undergo continuous preparation to manage mine accidents, fire hazards and underground emergencies where every second becomes critical.
Singareni CMD Buddhaprakash Jyoti congratulated the team and described the achievement as a proud moment for the organisation and the country. He said the award highlighted the dedication and professionalism of the rescue staff working in high risk environments.
The management also noted that worker safety remains one of the company’s core priorities and such global recognition would encourage employees to continue maintaining high operational standards.
The victory has brought appreciation from mining sector officials and employees across Telangana, with many calling it a landmark achievement for India’s mining safety and rescue services.
