Telangana has released the SIR draft electoral roll, with officials asking voters who receive notices to submit the required details and check their names carefully.
Telangana SIR Draft List: The Special Intensive Revision, or SIR, of voter lists has reached an important stage in Telangana with the draft electoral roll being released on Monday.
According to Chief Electoral Officer C Sudharshan Reddy, 78.30 percent of the enumeration forms have been received so far. Officials have also identified a large number of cases that need further verification before the final list is prepared.
Around 92 lakh voters are expected to receive notices as part of this process. People who get a notice will be asked to provide the required documents and confirm their details. Officials have said the reason for issuing the notice will also be clearly mentioned.
The SIR exercise has found around 2.73 percent of voters listed as deceased, while about 60 lakh cases have been marked as anomalies. Another 32 lakh voters have not yet been mapped, according to the election authorities.
For voters, the notice does not mean that their name has automatically been removed from the electoral roll. Those who have concerns can submit their objections and provide the necessary information for verification.
The claims and objections process will continue from August 17 to October 15. Officials will examine the applications and objections during this period before preparing the final list.
The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on October 19. More than 2,000 officials are expected to be involved across Telangana to complete the remaining work.
Voters are being advised to check the draft list and respond quickly if they receive a notice. The Election Commission has also made the draft electoral roll available online so that people can verify their details without waiting for further communication.
The SIR process is being carried out to verify the voter database and identify cases that need correction or further confirmation. The authorities have asked eligible voters to cooperate with the verification process so that genuine names are not left out of the final list.
