Telangana School Calendar 2026: Telangana has introduced a student focused academic calendar featuring daily sports, yoga sessions, reading activities, no bag days and structured schedules aimed at overall development and learning.

Telangana School Calendar 2026: Telangana has rolled out its academic calendar for the 2026 to 27 school year, introducing several student centered initiatives designed to balance academics with physical fitness and personal development. The new framework places equal emphasis on learning, sports, reading habits and mental wellbeing.

One of the key highlights is the introduction of daily sports and games in schools. Education authorities have directed institutions to ensure regular physical activities for students, reflecting a broader effort to encourage fitness and active lifestyles among children.

The calendar also makes five minutes of yoga or meditation a compulsory part of the school routine. These sessions will be conducted during or immediately after morning prayers to help students improve concentration and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day.

To strengthen reading habits, schools have been instructed to dedicate 30 minutes every day to reading activities. Students will be encouraged to read storybooks, magazines, newspapers and other educational material to enhance comprehension and develop a stronger interest in learning beyond textbooks.

Schools across Telangana will function for a total of 227 working days during the academic year. Officials have directed schools to complete the Class 10 syllabus by January 10, 2027, while syllabi for other classes should be finished by February 28.

Another major feature of the calendar is the introduction of a No Bag Day on the third Saturday of every month. The initiative aims to provide students with a break from routine classroom activities while allowing schools to conduct interactive and creative learning sessions.

The calendar also outlines summer vacation dates from April 24 to June 13, 2027. In a first, authorities have included the schedule for half day schools, which will be implemented from March 15 until the final working day of the academic year.

Special remedial classes will be conducted for students from Classes 1 to 9 until September to help strengthen subject understanding and support those who need additional academic assistance. The education department believes these measures will improve learning outcomes and reduce academic gaps.

The academic calendar further includes schedules for science exhibitions and innovation related events aimed at promoting scientific thinking among students. District and state level competitions, along with regional science fairs, are expected to provide young learners with opportunities to showcase creativity and research skills.
