Telangana Hospitals Every Six Months: Telangana Plans New Government Hospitals Every Six Months
Telangana government plans to complete major hospitals in phases, adding 10,000 beds and expanding advanced healthcare facilities across Hyderabad and Warangal by December 2027.

Telangana Hospitals Every Six Months: Hyderabad is set to get a major boost in public healthcare, with the Telangana government planning to bring new hospitals into service every six months. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said the Osmania General Hospital, TIMS facilities at LB Nagar and Alwal, and the Warangal super speciality hospital will be completed by December 2027.
The announcement came during the inauguration of the Dr Marri Channa Reddy Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences hospital at Sanath Nagar. Revanth Reddy, along with Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and other ministers, inspected the facility before formally opening it.
According to the Chief Minister, the new hospitals together will add around 10,000 beds to the government healthcare system. He said the facilities are being planned with modern infrastructure so that patients can access specialised treatment without having to depend entirely on private hospitals.
The government is also focusing on strengthening healthcare spending. Revanth Reddy said ₹21,800 crore has been spent on the medical and health sector since the Congress government came to power. He also pointed to spending under Aarogyasri and the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund as part of the state’s support for patients from low income families.
The Osmania General Hospital project is another major part of the plan. The new facility is being constructed at a different location in Hyderabad at an estimated cost of ₹2,700 crore. The government says the project is aimed at replacing the ageing hospital infrastructure and creating better conditions for patients and medical staff.
Work on the other TIMS hospitals is also being pushed ahead. Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha said the Sanath Nagar facility would focus on areas including cardiology and organ transplantation. The hospital has 16 major and 15 minor operation theatres.
The Alwal TIMS is being developed with a focus on neurology and genetic medicine, while the LB Nagar facility is planned as a specialised centre for gastroenterology and paediatric care. The government also intends to strengthen nursing education and provide foreign language training to nursing students to improve their employment opportunities abroad.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said the state had accelerated hospital construction after the present government took office. He said several health projects were being taken up with fresh funding, including six super speciality hospitals and hundreds of other healthcare works.
The government also plans to introduce incentives for doctors and medical staff who work additional hours in super speciality hospitals. Officials believe such measures could help keep specialised services available for longer hours and improve access for patients.
At the Sanath Nagar event, doctors who completed 1,000 robotic surgeries at NIMS were honoured. The Chief Minister also launched the TGSafe and Aarogya Deepika polyclinics online.
