Telangana 112 Alert: Telangana Director General of Police CV Anand has urged people to contact the police immediately if they face harassment or pressure to hand over money during housewarming ceremonies and other family functions.

His advice came after a social media user shared an account of an incident during a housewarming ceremony, claiming that a group of transgender persons had pressured the family to pay money. According to the post, Dundigal Police intervened after receiving information and helped the family.

The family said the situation had become uncomfortable when they were allegedly pressured into giving money against their wishes. A Dundigal Police patrol team reportedly reached the spot soon after being alerted and brought the situation under control.

The family also said the police helped them recover the money that had been taken. They specifically thanked constables Sai Kumar and Mohan, along with the personnel of Petrol Mobile 2, for responding quickly.

Responding to the social media post, CV Anand said people should not hesitate to seek police assistance in such situations. He asked the public to dial 112 when they face an emergency and need immediate help.

The DGP said police officials have been instructed to respond promptly whenever complaints involving forced collections, threats or harassment are received. The objective, he said, is to ensure that people do not feel helpless when faced with such incidents.

The issue has attracted wider attention in Telangana following complaints and discussions on social media about alleged harassment during weddings, housewarming functions and other celebrations. Recent posts and videos have also brought the issue into public debate.

At the same time, police action is expected to focus on specific complaints and alleged unlawful conduct rather than the identity of any particular community. People facing coercion or threats have been advised to report the incident so that authorities can assess the circumstances and act according to law.

The DGP also highlighted the usefulness of the 112 emergency service. Instead of trying to locate a nearby police station during an emergency, residents can call the helpline and provide their location and details of the situation.

Following the Dundigal incident, police officials across the state have reportedly been directed to respond quickly to emergency calls, manage situations at the scene and take appropriate legal action wherever violations are established.
