Revanth Seeks Surekha’s Removal: Revanth Reddy Moves to Remove Konda Surekha From Cabinet
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has recommended Konda Surekha’s removal from the Cabinet, while key government posts have also been changed following an internal Congress dispute.

Revanth Seeks Surekha’s Removal: A major change is taking shape in the Telangana government, with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy deciding to remove Konda Surekha from the Council of Ministers. A recommendation has been sent to Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla for the formal action.
The decision comes after days of tension within the Telangana Congress. The immediate trigger was a controversy surrounding remarks made by Surekha’s daughter, Konda Sushmitha Patel, against Revanth Reddy and other party leaders at a public meeting.
The issue had already reached the party’s disciplinary committee. Surekha was asked to explain her position and maintained that the remarks were made by her daughter and should not be attributed to her. She had also made it clear that she was not willing to step down from the Cabinet.
The party’s disciplinary process eventually recommended action against Surekha. Following discussions with the Congress leadership, Revanth Reddy moved ahead with the decision to drop her from the Cabinet.
There is another change alongside the Cabinet decision. The government has withdrawn G Chinna Reddy’s appointment as Vice Chairman of the Telangana Planning Board. Gadwal Vijayalakshmi has been chosen to take over the post.
The government has also announced changes to two other nominated positions. Nerella Sharada has been appointed Chairperson of the Telangana State Commission for Women, while G Sudha Rani has been named Chairperson of the Kakatiya Urban Development Authority.
Chinna Reddy’s case was also linked to the disciplinary action within the state Congress. His remarks concerning Wanaparthy MLA Megha Reddy had drawn the attention of the party leadership, which sought an explanation from him.
For the Congress government, the latest decisions mark a significant move against senior leaders at a time when internal differences have become increasingly visible. The formal process concerning Surekha’s removal will now depend on the Governor’s action.
The developments have also brought several changes to important government and nominated posts, making Thursday a significant day in Telangana politics.
