Rain Alert Issued for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as IMD Warns of More Showers
The IMD has forecast rain across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana over the next few days, with thunderstorms possible in several areas and yellow alerts issued for 13 districts.
The weather system currently developing around northeast Madhya Pradesh is expected to influence conditions across the Telugu states. A surface circulation associated with the low pressure area extends up to about 7.6 kilometres above sea level, while a monsoon trough stretches from Madhya Pradesh towards the east central Bay of Bengal.
These systems are likely to bring more moisture into the region, leading to spells of rain in several places.
In Telangana, Hyderabad, Jagtial and Kamareddy are among the areas that could receive showers accompanied by thunder and lightning. Residents in these districts have been advised to remain cautious, particularly during periods of strong winds and thunderstorms.
In Andhra Pradesh, parts of Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema are expected to receive rainfall between September 3 and 5. Weather conditions could change quickly in some areas, prompting authorities to urge people to follow local warnings.
The IMD has also issued a specific warning for fishermen. Those planning to venture into the Bay of Bengal have been asked to avoid fishing on September 3 and 4 because of the possibility of strong winds and rough conditions.
Officials have advised people to avoid standing near electricity poles, large hoardings and other structures that could become dangerous during gusty winds. Residents are also encouraged to stay indoors when thunderstorms become intense and take necessary precautions.
