A DCM van carrying more than 200 goats caught fire after hitting a roadside signboard in Bhuthpur, Mahabubnagar, killing one person and injuring five others early Thursday.
Mahabubnagar DCM Fire: A DCM van carrying a large consignment of goats caught fire in Bhuthpur of Mahabubnagar district early Thursday, leaving one person dead and five others injured.
The accident happened on the national highway towards Kurnool when the vehicle reportedly hit a roadside signboard. The impact was followed by a sudden fire inside the van, leaving little time for those travelling in it to escape.
More than 200 goats were trapped in the vehicle and died in the fire. The DCM was also completely destroyed as the flames spread rapidly.
Local residents rushed to the spot after noticing the fire and helped the injured people. The five injured were taken to the Mahabubnagar General Hospital for treatment.
Fire personnel reached the accident site after receiving information and worked to bring the flames under control. The incident caused concern among people in the area as the vehicle was carrying a large number of animals.
Mahabubnagar SP Janaki and DSP Venkateshwarlu also reached the spot and supervised the rescue and relief efforts. Police are looking into the circumstances that led to the crash and the subsequent fire.
The identity of the deceased and further details about the condition of the injured were not immediately available.
