Hyderabad Residents Alerted as Water Supply to Face 24 Hour Disruption
Hyderabad residents in several areas may face water supply disruptions for 24 hours as the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board carries out urgent pipeline repair work. The interruption is expected to begin on August 17 morning.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board has announced a temporary disruption in drinking water supply across several parts of the city.
The shutdown is linked to emergency repair work on the 1600 mm diameter pumping main pipeline connected to the Singur project. According to officials, the work will start at 10 am on Monday, August 17, and continue until 10 am on Tuesday, August 18.
The impact will vary from one locality to another. Gayatrinagar, Borabanda and the ESI area are expected to face a complete stoppage of water supply. Residents in areas including Shaikpet, Kokapet, Manikonda and Narsingi may experience partial disruption.
Bulk connections in BHEL, MIG I and II, Rail Vihar, Chandanagar, Indian School of Business and surrounding KPHB Colony areas are also likely to be affected during the repair period.
Several other localities are expected to receive water at lower pressure. These include SR Nagar, Erragadda, Ameerpet, Banjara Hills, Somajiguda, Kondapur, Hafeezpet, Kukatpally Housing Board, Malaysian Township, Hyder Nagar and Bollaram Industrial Area.
With the repair work scheduled for a full day, officials have asked residents in the affected areas to use water carefully and make necessary arrangements beforehand. People have also been advised to store enough water for essential household needs during the interruption.
