Hyderabad Police Warn Public Against Indiramma Towers Cyber Fraud
Hyderabad Police have cautioned citizens against cyber fraud linked to Indiramma Towers applications, urging people to ignore fake payment demands, suspicious links, and fraudulent websites targeting home applicants.
Hyderabad Police have issued a strong public advisory warning citizens about a possible rise in cyber scams linked to the ongoing Indiramma Towers housing scheme. Fraudsters are reportedly exploiting the growing interest in the project by creating fake payment requests and misleading communications to cheat applicants.
Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar said cyber criminals may contact people claiming that an Earnest Money Deposit of Rs 10000 is mandatory for house allotment. They may also pressure applicants by spreading false messages that the deadline is about to expire and immediate payment is required to secure a house.
Officials cautioned people against trusting unknown phone calls, text messages, WhatsApp links, or APK files received from unverified sources. Cyber criminals often use such methods to steal banking information, personal data, or gain unauthorized access to mobile devices. Citizens have been advised not to install remote access applications or share their Aadhaar details, bank account information, PINs, passwords, or OTPs with anyone.
The Commissioner also warned that fraudsters are designing fake websites that closely resemble official government portals to collect sensitive information from unsuspecting users. He clarified that no brokers, agents, or intermediaries have any role in the Indiramma Towers allotment process, and applicants should rely only on official government channels.
Police further reminded the public that refund processes never require entering a UPI PIN. Anyone who receives suspicious calls or payment requests should avoid responding and immediately report the incident if they suspect fraud.
Meanwhile, the Telangana government has launched a dedicated helpdesk to answer questions related to the Indiramma Towers housing project, including eligibility criteria, application procedures, and construction details. The call centre operates daily from 9 am to 6 pm and provides assistance in Telugu, Hindi, English, and Urdu, enabling applicants to obtain verified information directly from government authorities.
People who become victims of cyber fraud have been urged to report the incident without delay by contacting the national cyber crime helpline on 1930 so that immediate action can be initiated.
