Deep Depression Triggers Red Alert as Heavy Rain Threatens Telangana

A powerful deep depression advancing toward Telangana has raised fresh concerns over intense rainfall, with weather experts warning that the next day and a half could witness some of the heaviest showers of the season. Authorities have urged people in vulnerable areas to remain alert as the system continues its movement from the Bay of Bengal through Chhattisgarh.

According to weather forecasts, northern Telangana is expected to experience the greatest impact. Districts including Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Mancherial, Peddapalli, Jagtial, and Jayashankar Bhupalpally are likely to receive widespread heavy to extremely heavy rainfall. Kamareddy, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, and Mulugu may also witness moderate to heavy showers.

Weather experts have cautioned that isolated locations could record 30 to 45 centimetres of rainfall within the next 36 hours, creating the possibility of flash floods, overflowing streams, and disruption to normal life. In response to the developing weather situation, red alerts have been issued for parts of northern Telangana.

Emergency agencies have stepped up preparedness in flood prone areas. Residents living near streams, low lying localities, and water channels have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and remain indoors unless essential. Local authorities are monitoring the situation closely and have intensified rescue and relief arrangements.

While northern districts are expected to bear the brunt of the system, Hyderabad is also likely to remain under cloudy skies throughout the day. The city may experience intermittent light to moderate rain accompanied by persistent overcast conditions.

Rainfall recorded over the previous 24 hours reflects the intensity of the weather system. Palimela in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district registered the highest rainfall at 19.43 centimetres. Other locations that received substantial rainfall include Sarangapur with 19.40 centimetres, Buggaram with 18.33 centimetres, Velgatoor with 17.57 centimetres, Endapalli with 15.38 centimetres, Raikal and Jagtial with 14.97 centimetres each, Kamanpur with 14.14 centimetres, Wazeedu with 13.36 centimetres, Nirmal with 13.23 centimetres, and Mendora in Nizamabad district with 10.81 centimetres.

Officials have advised residents to stay updated through official weather bulletins and exercise caution until the weather system weakens and rainfall intensity begins to reduce.
