Chartered Accountant Dies by Suicide as Online Gaming Addiction Raises Fresh Concerns

A young Chartered Accountant from Telangana died by suicide after reportedly struggling with online gaming addiction and mounting financial stress prompting renewed warnings about digital gambling risks.

A tragic incident in Telangana has once again drawn attention to the dangers of online gaming addiction after a 33 year old Chartered Accountant from Siddipet reportedly died by suicide while facing severe financial difficulties linked to excessive online gaming. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.

According to investigators, the victim had been dealing with mounting debts for some time, which gradually affected both his financial stability and personal life. Despite earlier efforts to recover from the situation, his circumstances reportedly continued to worsen, placing him under significant emotional pressure.

Officials said the Chartered Accountant had been staying away from his family in recent months. During the investigation, police learned that he had even sold a house in an attempt to reduce his financial burden. When hotel staff noticed that he had not responded for an extended period, they alerted the authorities, who later confirmed his death. Police stated that a note recovered during the investigation indicated that he did not hold anyone else responsible for his decision.

Reacting to the incident, Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar expressed deep concern over the growing impact of online betting and gaming addiction. He said such platforms often create unrealistic expectations of easy financial gains while leaving many individuals trapped in debt and emotional distress.

The Commissioner urged people facing financial, emotional or personal challenges to seek support from family members, trusted friends, mental health professionals or the police instead of dealing with such situations alone. He emphasized that every life is valuable and appealed to the public to stay away from addictive online betting and gaming activities that can have devastating consequences.

The incident has renewed calls for greater public awareness about responsible digital behavior and the need for timely intervention when individuals show signs of gaming addiction or severe financial stress.
