Amazon and Telangana Government Partner to Launch Five New Ashray Centres in Hyderabad
Amazon India and the Telangana government have signed an agreement to establish five new Ashray centres in Hyderabad, expanding rest facilities and support services for delivery drivers across the city.
Amazon India has partnered with the Telangana government to expand its Ashray initiative by establishing five additional rest centres for delivery drivers in Hyderabad. The collaboration aims to improve welfare facilities for delivery personnel and strengthen support infrastructure across the city.
Under the agreement, the Telangana government will assist in identifying suitable locations through the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation. Authorities will also help with administrative coordination and the necessary approvals required to develop the new centres.
With the addition of these facilities, Amazon’s Ashray network in Hyderabad will grow to 14 centres. The company said the expansion reflects its continued investment in improving working conditions for delivery associates and creating accessible rest spaces in busy commercial areas.
Ashray was introduced by Amazon in 2024 as a dedicated network of rest centres designed for delivery personnel working across the e commerce and logistics sectors. The facilities provide a comfortable place where delivery partners can take breaks during their workday.
Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary for Metropolitan Area and Urban Development, said the partnership would contribute to improving workplace conditions for delivery drivers in Telangana. He added that the state government looks forward to supporting initiatives that benefit the workforce.
Amazon currently operates more than 100 Ashray centres across 16 cities in India and plans to increase the network to 250 locations by the end of 2026. The company said the expansion is part of its broader investment of more than Rs 2800 crore focused on enhancing safety, health, and overall well being for people involved in last mile delivery operations.
Officials said the latest collaboration highlights a joint effort between the government and the private sector to build better urban support infrastructure while addressing the everyday needs of delivery professionals.
