Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan Meets Narendra Modi Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to meet Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan in New Delhi on Tuesday in what will be their first official interaction since the Congress led alliance formed the government in the state. The meeting has attracted attention in political circles due to its significance for both the state and national political landscape.

Although officials have not released a detailed agenda for the discussion, reports suggest that Kerala’s financial situation and development priorities are expected to dominate the talks. Pending projects, financial assistance from the central government and several state related concerns are likely to be raised during the meeting.

Following the interaction with the Prime Minister, Chief Minister Satheesan is also scheduled to meet Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at Kartavya Bhavan later in the afternoon. The meeting is expected to continue discussions related to state finances and economic matters.

VD Satheesan recently arrived in the national capital for the first time as Chief Minister and received a warm welcome at Kerala House from party workers and students. Before his scheduled meeting with the Prime Minister, he also held discussions with senior Congress leaders regarding the political situation in the state.

The Congress led United Democratic Front secured a major victory in the recent Kerala Assembly elections by winning 102 seats and forming the government with a strong majority. The Left Democratic Front was limited to 35 seats. Following the victory, VD Satheesan took oath as Chief Minister on May 18 along with his cabinet ministers.

The upcoming discussions between the state leadership and the central government are being closely watched as many believe the outcomes could influence Kerala’s future development agenda.
