Lal Darwaza Bonalu Draws Huge Crowds in Hyderabad Old City

Lal Darwaza in Hyderabad’s Old City witnessed a festive atmosphere on Sunday as large numbers of devotees arrived for the annual Bonalu celebrations at the Simhavahini Mahankali temple.

Devotees carrying Bonam offerings gathered around the temple from the morning and waited for their turn to seek the blessings of the goddess. The large turnout led to heavy crowds in and around the temple premises.

Traditional performances added to the atmosphere as drum beats and Poturaju dances accompanied the celebrations. Devotees also joined in prayers and chants, creating a lively spiritual environment across the surrounding streets.

With Bonalu celebrations taking place at several temples across Hyderabad, authorities have strengthened security arrangements to manage the crowds and ensure the celebrations proceed peacefully.

Around 2,500 police personnel have reportedly been deployed across various temple locations in the city. Officials have also installed around 100 CCTV cameras to monitor crowded areas and keep a close watch on the movement of devotees.

The arrangements are aimed at ensuring the safety of visitors while helping police manage the large gatherings during the Ashada month Bonalu festivities.
