Khairatabad Ganesh Procession: The much awaited Khairatabad Ganesh procession has finally begun in Hyderabad, drawing large crowds of devotees towards Tank Bund and the Hussain Sagar area.

The procession was originally scheduled to start at 6am on Friday but was delayed because of technical issues. Organisers later began moving the 69 foot idol after completing the necessary arrangements around the vehicle.

The massive idol was first placed on a Tusker vehicle. Welding work was then carried out around the structure to secure it for the journey. Once those arrangements were completed, the procession moved forward.

The idol will travel through several important points in the city, including Sensation Theatre, Rajdoot Junction, Telephone Bhavan, Iqbal Minar, Telangana Thalli Junction and NTR Marg.

A large crane has been positioned at NTR Marg for the final immersion. The 69 foot Khairatabad Ganesh will be immersed near Crane Number 5, where preparations have been made to handle the huge idol safely.

Crowds have been building around Tank Bund as devotees arrive to witness the procession and immersion. The atmosphere has turned festive, with people gathering along the procession route to catch a glimpse of the famous Khairatabad idol.

Congress MLA Danam Nagender also joined the celebrations at the start of the procession and was seen dancing in front of the Mahaganapathi.

Police have made extensive security arrangements for the event because of the expected turnout. Around 45,000 police personnel from four commissionerates have been deployed across Hyderabad and surrounding areas to manage the crowds, traffic and security.

Particular attention is being given to the Hussain Sagar surroundings, where a large number of devotees are expected to gather during the immersion. Around 1,000 police personnel have been assigned specifically to the area.

Traffic movement is also being closely monitored as the procession passes through busy parts of the city. Police teams have been deployed along the route to regulate crowds and keep the procession moving towards NTR Marg.

The Khairatabad idol is one of the major attractions of Hyderabad’s Ganesh immersion celebrations every year. Its large size and traditional procession draw devotees from different parts of the city.

With the procession now underway, preparations at the immersion point are being closely watched by officials. The focus is on completing the immersion safely while managing the large gathering expected around Hussain Sagar.
