Hyderabad Wine Shops to Remain Closed for Bonalu Festival
Wine shops and toddy outlets across Hyderabad and nearby commissionerate areas will remain closed during Bonalu celebrations as authorities step up security arrangements across the city.
People planning to purchase liquor in Hyderabad will have to take note of a temporary closure announced ahead of the Bonalu festival. Authorities have ordered liquor outlets and toddy shops to remain shut as part of security arrangements for the celebrations.
The closure will begin at 10 am on August 9 and continue until 10 am on August 10. The order covers liquor shops, toddy outlets and wine shops attached to restaurants in the jurisdictions of Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Malkajgiri and Future City commissionerates.
The decision has been taken with the aim of maintaining law and order during the festival. Bonalu celebrations attract large crowds at temples and other important locations, prompting police authorities to introduce additional restrictions to ensure that the festivities pass off peacefully.
Within the Hyderabad Commissionerate, special closure orders have also been issued for the Golconda and Rajendranagar zones. Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar has directed liquor shops in these areas to remain closed on August 9 and August 10 as part of the security measures.
The temporary restrictions are expected to remain in force for the specified period, after which the affected establishments can resume operations according to the applicable rules.
Authorities have urged residents and visitors to take note of the closure timings and plan accordingly, particularly those travelling to areas where Bonalu celebrations and large public gatherings are expected.
