West Bengal Police Seize 11 Kilograms of Ganja and Arrest One Smuggler

Police intercepted a vehicle during a midnight checkpoint operation in West Bengal seizing 11 kilograms of ganja and arresting one suspect allegedly transporting the contraband to Odisha.

A midnight vehicle inspection in West Bengal’s Jhargram district led to the seizure of 11 kilograms of ganja and the arrest of one person suspected of transporting the narcotics. The operation was carried out by Biriyabed Police Station personnel at the Yudgiya checkpoint in Gopiballavpur II during routine enforcement checks.

According to police, officers stopped a car for inspection and recovered 11 kilograms of ganja concealed inside the vehicle. The accused was taken into custody immediately, and the seized contraband was confiscated as part of the investigation.

Preliminary findings suggest that the narcotics were being transported from Kharagpur to Odisha. Investigators are now examining the route used by the suspect and trying to identify others who may be linked to the alleged drug trafficking network.

Police have registered a case under the relevant provisions of the law and are continuing their investigation to determine the source and intended destination of the seized ganja. Officials said further action will be taken based on the evidence gathered during the probe.

Authorities reiterated that regular vehicle inspections and anti narcotics operations will continue to prevent the illegal movement of drugs across state borders and to strengthen enforcement against drug trafficking.
