TTD Food Lab Opens: TTD Launches High Tech Food Analysis Lab in Tirumala to Ensure Food Safety

TTD Food Lab Opens: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has strengthened food safety measures by launching a state of the art Food Analysis Lab in Tirumala. The new facility has been established to protect the health of lakhs of devotees by regularly checking the quality of food offerings and drinking water supplied across the temple town.

Earlier, food and water samples had to be sent to laboratories outside Tirumala, leading to long waiting periods for test results. With the new laboratory functioning locally, quality checks are now completed much faster, allowing officials to respond quickly whenever necessary.

Built according to FSSAI standards, the laboratory was completed in just two and a half months at a cost of Rs 25 crore. Additional Executive Officer Venkaiah Chowdary reviewed the first laboratory report and said the temple administration is committed to maintaining the highest standards of food safety for devotees.

More than 50 advanced testing instruments have been installed in the facility. A dedicated team of 30 scientists and laboratory technicians works continuously to examine food and water samples collected from different locations across Tirumala.

Every day, officials collect around 40 food samples from temple kitchens, Annaprasadam centres and food counters. In addition, nearly 20 water samples are taken from water supply lines and distribution points for detailed testing. This regular monitoring is expected to maintain the quality of Srivari Laddu Prasadam and Annaprasadam without compromise.

The laboratory has also significantly reduced the waiting time for drinking water quality reports. Initial bacterial analysis, which earlier took between ten and fifteen days, can now be completed within 48 hours, ensuring faster action whenever required.

Meanwhile, the annual Teppotsavam celebrations at the Padmavati Ammavari Temple in Tiruchanoor were held with great devotion. Lord Krishna accompanied by Rukmini and Satyabhama was taken on a beautifully decorated float across the Padma Sarovaram amid dazzling lights. Devotees participated with prayers and Govinda chants while special rituals, cultural performances and devotional music added to the festive atmosphere before the procession concluded through the temple streets.
