School Van Hit by Train in West Bengal, Three Killed in Crossing Accident
Three people including two schoolchildren lost their lives after a train collided with a school van at a railway crossing in West Bengal. An investigation has been launched.
A tragic railway crossing accident in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district claimed the lives of three people, including two schoolchildren, after a train collided with a school van on Friday morning.
The incident occurred near Karna Subarna Railway Station when the van was crossing the railway tracks. According to railway officials, the approaching local train crashed into the vehicle, causing severe damage and resulting in multiple casualties.
Emergency teams and local authorities rushed to the accident site soon after receiving information. Officials confirmed the deaths and initiated rescue and relief operations while clearing the affected area.
Railway authorities have formed a 10 member investigation team to determine how the accident occurred. Preliminary information indicated that the level crossing gate was open at the time of the collision, and investigators are examining all possible circumstances surrounding the incident.
The accident also disrupted train operations on the Azimganj Katwa section of the Eastern Railway’s Howrah Division for some time, affecting the movement of several services before normal operations gradually resumed.
Officials said the inquiry will establish the exact sequence of events and identify whether any lapses contributed to the tragedy. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
