Prime Minister Narendra Modi Inaugurates Viveka Memorial at Mysuru Ramakrishna Ashrama

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Ramakrishna Ashrama in Mysuru and inaugurated the newly built Viveka Memorial during his visit to the cultural city of Karnataka. The event drew the attention of devotees, local residents and political leaders, marking an important occasion for the institution.

After arriving in Mysuru by a special helicopter, the Prime Minister received a warm welcome from senior leaders and officials. At the Oval Grounds, he was greeted by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah and BJP Karnataka President B Y Vijayendra, who welcomed him with bouquets.

Large numbers of people gathered along the roads to greet the Prime Minister as his convoy passed through the city. Supporters raised slogans and waved enthusiastically, creating a festive atmosphere before he proceeded to the Ramakrishna Ashrama located on Narayana Shastri Road in Devaraja Mohalla.

At the Ashrama, Modi formally inaugurated the Viveka Memorial and paid floral tributes to the statue of Swami Vivekananda. He offered prayers and spent time reflecting at the memorial, highlighting the importance of Swami Vivekananda’s teachings and contribution to India’s spiritual and cultural heritage.

The Prime Minister also planted a Bilva sapling inside the Ashrama campus as a symbolic gesture promoting environmental conservation. Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and BJP state president B Y Vijayendra joined him during the tree planting ceremony, underlining the importance of protecting nature alongside preserving cultural values.

During his visit, Modi spent a few moments in meditation within the Ashrama premises. He later interacted with the resident monks and representatives of the Ramakrishna Ashrama, discussing the institution’s activities and its role in promoting spiritual education and social service.

The visit reflected the close association between the Ramakrishna Ashrama and the ideals of Swami Vivekananda, whose philosophy continues to inspire generations across the country. The newly inaugurated Viveka Memorial is expected to become an important attraction for devotees, students and visitors seeking to learn more about his life and message.
