Mammootty and Kartik Aaryan Share Best Actor Honour at 72nd National Film Awards

The 72nd National Film Awards recognised outstanding performances across Indian cinema with Mammootty and Kartik Aaryan winning Best Actor while Article 370 emerged as the Best Feature Film.

The Government of India has announced the winners of the 72nd National Film Awards for the 2024 film year, celebrating excellence across Indian cinema. Films from Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and other regional industries featured prominently among this year’s award recipients.

One of the biggest highlights of the awards was the Best Actor category, where Mammootty and Kartik Aaryan shared the honour. Mammootty received the award for his powerful performance in Brahmayugam, while Kartik Aaryan was recognised for his role in Chandu Champion. Their performances were praised for bringing depth and authenticity to their respective characters.

The Best Feature Film award went to the Hindi film Article 370, adding another major achievement to the film’s success. Actress Yami Gautam also received the Best Actress award for her leading performance in the same film, making it one of the most celebrated winners of the year.

Telugu cinema also earned significant recognition at the national level. Committee Kurrollu was named Best Telugu Film and also secured the award for Best Makeup. The achievements highlighted the growing appreciation for regional storytelling and technical excellence.

Another major Telugu production, Kalki 2898 AD, won the award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Director Sukumar was honoured with the Best Screenplay award for Pushpa 2, further strengthening Telugu cinema’s presence at the prestigious awards ceremony.

This year’s National Film Awards showcased a wide range of films with strong storytelling, memorable performances and technical brilliance, reflecting the diversity and creativity of the Indian film industry.
