Keonjhar Double Murder: A shocking case of double murder has come to light in Odisha’s Keonjhar district, where a husband and wife were allegedly killed after being accused of practicing witchcraft. Police have arrested five people from the same village in connection with the crime.

According to investigators, Khageshwar Soren, 42, and his wife Tuni Soren, 35, had been missing since June 25. Their family approached the police after they failed to return home, prompting an investigation into their disappearance.

During questioning, five suspects reportedly confessed to the killings. Police said the victims were attacked while they were sleeping on the veranda of their house. The accused allegedly strangled the couple using towels before dragging the bodies nearly half a kilometer away.

Investigators revealed that the victims’ hands and legs were tied before the bodies were thrown into an abandoned well in an attempt to destroy evidence. The couple’s two sons were reportedly staying with relatives in another village on the night of the incident.

The arrests include five residents of the village, and police have registered a murder case. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine whether others were involved and to establish the full sequence of events.

The incident has once again highlighted the dangers of superstition and witchcraft related violence, which continues to claim lives in some rural areas despite growing awareness and strict legal provisions.
