Kakinada Boat Fire Injures Two Fishermen: Another fishing boat accident has raised fresh concerns among coastal communities in Andhra Pradesh after a vessel caught fire off the coast near Thondangi in Kakinada district. Two fishermen suffered serious burn injuries, while the remaining crew members escaped safely with the help of nearby fishermen.

According to local reports, a group of fishermen from Ellayyapeta village had travelled nearly 15 kilometres into the sea for fishing. During the trip, they attempted to prepare a meal on board using a gas stove. Moments after the stove was switched on, flames suddenly erupted and quickly spread across the boat, leaving the crew with little time to react.

To save their lives, all the fishermen jumped into the sea. Their distress was noticed by another fishing boat operating nearby. The crew rushed to the spot without delay and safely rescued everyone from the water before the situation became more dangerous.

Among those injured were Erupalli Kotesh and Erupalli Prasad, who sustained severe burn injuries in the fire. They were immediately shifted to a private hospital in Tuni, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.

The latest incident comes at a time when repeated fishing boat accidents have created anxiety along the Andhra Pradesh coastline. In recent days, six fishermen went missing in another boat mishap, while ten others were rescued safely in a separate incident, highlighting the growing safety challenges faced by fishermen at sea.
