IndiGo Flight From Dubai Makes Emergency Landing in Rajkot After Smoke Detected in Cargo Hold

An IndiGo flight traveling from Dubai to Mumbai made an emergency landing at Rajkot Airport in Gujarat after smoke was detected inside the aircraft’s cargo hold during the journey. The flight landed safely, and all 194 passengers on board were evacuated without any reported injuries.

The incident occurred while IndiGo flight 6E 1452 was en route to Mumbai. During the flight, the crew identified smoke in the cargo compartment where passenger baggage is stored. Recognizing the potential safety risk, the pilots immediately informed air traffic control and requested permission to carry out an emergency landing at the nearest suitable airport.

Airport authorities at Rajkot responded swiftly by declaring an emergency and activating all standard safety procedures. Rajkot Airport Director Digant Bora said the IndiGo aircraft, which had departed from Dubai for Mumbai, reported smoke in the cargo hold while in flight. He confirmed that the aircraft landed safely at Rajkot under emergency procedures and that all passengers and crew members were unharmed.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the exact reason behind the smoke inside the cargo compartment. Technical teams are expected to carry out a detailed inspection of the aircraft to determine the source of the incident before the plane is cleared for further operations.
