Gujarat ATS Conducts Multi State Anti Terror Operation

The Gujarat Anti Terrorism Squad has arrested eight people for their alleged links with Pakistan based terror outfit Jaish e Mohammed following coordinated raids across Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. The operation was carried out across Banaskantha, Patan, Navsari and Dewas as part of an extensive investigation into suspected terror activities.

According to investigators, the accused allegedly assisted members of Jaish e Mohammed who were planning terror related activities in Gujarat. Security agencies claim the suspects were involved in providing logistical support and maintaining contacts connected to the banned organisation.

Alleged Recruitment and Radicalisation Network

Officials alleged that some of the arrested individuals were operating from religious and educational institutions, including Jamia Abul Hasan Madrasa in Patan and Jamia Rahmania Khambhiya in Navsari. Investigators believe these locations were allegedly used to influence young people with extremist ideology and facilitate movement linked to the suspected network.

The Gujarat ATS has registered a detailed case against all eight accused at its police station. A court has remanded all the suspects to 14 days of police custody to allow investigators to continue questioning and gather further evidence.

Charges Filed Under UAPA and BNS

The accused have been booked under Sections 13, 17, 18, 38 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act 1967. The charges include unlawful activities, financing terrorism, criminal conspiracy and association with a banned terrorist organisation.

In addition, cases have also been registered under Sections 148 and 61 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023. The investigation is continuing, and officials are examining whether the alleged network had wider connections beyond the states covered in the operation
