Gadkari Reviews: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari chaired a high level review meeting in New Delhi to assess the progress of major National Highway projects across Telangana, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. The meeting focused on accelerating infrastructure development while ensuring high construction standards.
Telangana received special attention during the review, with officials discussing the progress of nearly 4931 kilometres of National Highway projects currently under construction across the state. Gadkari examined the status of ongoing works and directed authorities to resolve bottlenecks that could delay project completion.
Apart from Telangana, the minister also reviewed the construction of 2035 kilometres of highways in Jammu and Kashmir and 804 kilometres of strategically important road projects in Ladakh. He held detailed discussions with officials and construction agencies regarding project execution, challenges, and timelines.
Gadkari instructed all implementing agencies to maintain the highest standards of quality, durability, and safety. He emphasized that there should be no compromise in construction practices and called for the adoption of advanced technologies and globally accepted engineering methods to deliver long lasting road infrastructure.
Highlighting the importance of these projects, the minister said improved highway connectivity would strengthen regional development, support economic growth, and boost tourism. He also asked officials to intensify project monitoring and ensure that all works are completed within the scheduled deadlines.
Keeping the ongoing monsoon season in mind, Gadkari directed authorities to strengthen drainage systems, especially in hilly and heavy rainfall areas. He also instructed officials to take preventive measures against landslides and ensure that emergency response systems remain fully prepared to handle any unforeseen situations during the rainy season.
