Former Cricketer S Sreesanth Loses Father at 89

Former India cricketer S Sreesanth is facing a personal loss after his father, V Santhakumaran Nair, died at the age of 89 in Kerala.

Santhakumaran Nair passed away at 9.44 pm on Friday while undergoing treatment at Lisie Hospital in Kochi. His death has left the family preparing for the final rites, with relatives and close friends expected to gather at their family home.

Santhakumaran Nair was originally from Mathirappilly near Kothamangalam. His body is currently being kept at the Lisie Hospital mortuary. Family members who are abroad are expected to arrive on Sunday, after which the body will be taken to the family residence in Kothamangalam.

The family has planned to keep the body at the residence from 10 am to 2 pm on Sunday to allow relatives, friends and well wishers to pay their last respects. The final rites are scheduled to take place around 4 pm.

Santhakumaran Nair is survived by his wife T N Savitr Devi and children Deepusanth, Niveditha, Divya and Sreesanth. The extended family also includes their sons in law and daughters in law, including Kalpana, Captain Sajith, playback singer Madhu Balakrishnan and Duvaneswari.

Sreesanth, who represented India in international cricket, has remained closely associated with Kerala despite his cricket career taking him across the country and overseas. News of his father’s death has brought a difficult moment for the former cricketer and his family.

The funeral arrangements are being made at the family home in Kothamangalam. Relatives and friends are expected to attend the final rites and offer their condolences to the family.

The family is currently awaiting the arrival of relatives travelling from abroad before proceeding with the final arrangements. The body will be brought home on Sunday morning, giving those close to the family an opportunity to pay their respects before the funeral.
